URGENT - A rare opportunity for a Book Production Controller to join a vibrant publishing company based in the South/East Midlands.  

Due to rapid growth and exciting developments they require a Book Production Controller to assist with their volume of work. You must have previous experience of book production as you will ensure books are published on time and to budget.

You will be responsible for managing content from handover of files to final delivery to end client, adhere to time sensitive schedules and maintain a consistent and high standard of quality throughout. You will coordinate all shipping and logistic instructions to our print and freight forwarders to ensure that books reach worldwide destinations.

Communication skills are essential prerequisite for this role. You will report to the Production Director on a day to day basis. The successful candidates will have database spreadsheet experience, a sharp eye for detail, and possess good communication and organisational skills.
 
Key duties:
· Monitor all printing and delivery for front list and reprint titles
· Liaise closely with printers to develop product specs such as paperbacks, hardbacks, novelty and board books
· Problem solve on colour repro issues and advise on print, binding, delivery and safety requirements
· Develop excellent working relationships with external suppliers
· Negotiate effectively on additional costs and source savings proactively
· Work closely with designers and editorial from initial concept to final delivery
· Monitor and maintain project schedules
· Understand and implement understanding of novelty products
· Report any issues and set up progress meetings accordingly
 
Experience / skills required:
· Solid technical knowledge of colour repro, print, binding and packaging
· At least 1 years experience in a book production role
· Proven experience of working with print and repro suppliers
· Excellent communication skills
· A keen eye for print colour management
· Work well in a busy office with tight deadlines
· Intermediate or advanced knowledge of MS office particularly Excel, Word and Outlook

· Excellent working knowledge of high quality repro work
· Experience of  project tracking systems
· An understanding of nesting, cutter guides and safety test standards is required
